As of 2024, travel vaccination services for yellow fever, polio, measles, dengue, cholera, and other travel-related diseases are available in Houston, Katy (77494), Woodlands (77345), Galveston (77550), Pasadena (77015), League City (77058), Sugarland (77496), and UT Health located at 6410 Fannin Street, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77030. The U.S. Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests scheduling a vaccination appointment at least one month before traveling internationally.

Yellow Fever Vaccines in Houston, Texas

Yellow fever vaccination services are available in Houston clinics and pharmacies. In addition, the YF-Vax® single-dose Yellow Fever vaccine is available. This vaccine generates maximum immunity after ten days. While it's no longer available in the U.S., Sanofi Pasteur offers the Stamaril® vaccine in various countries. Known as the 'yellow card,' the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) is available following vaccination at certified yellow fever vaccination centers. In addition, the U.S. CDC lists Yellow Fever endemic countries in South America and certain African countries. As of 2024, the WHO published an updated Country List to identify which countries require an ICVP to enter.

Travel vaccinations include but are not limited to the following vaccines:

Cholera - The cholera vaccine has constrained availability in the U.S. and worldwide.

Dengue—Dengvaxia may be needed when visiting Puerto Rico and other dengue-endemic areas. The Qdenga vaccine is now authorized in several countries but not the U.S.

Hajj and Umrah - Several vaccinations are required to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Malaria - Two vaccines are available in Africa in 2024.

Measles - MMR, Proquad, and Priorix vaccines are available in the U.S. Measles outbreaks continue in the United States and worldwide in 2024.

Mpox - Jynneos vaccine and TPOXX oral treatment are U.S. FDA-authorized. The Houston Health Department offers free mpox vaccines.

Polio vaccines—The IPOL vaccine is advised for international travelers visiting at-risk countries. The nOPV2 polio vaccine is not available in the U.S.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases - Harris County Public Health highlights herpes, HIV, HPV, mpox, and other diseases.

Tuberculosis - Merck's Tice BCG vaccine is approved, but availability is limited in Houston, where TB cases have increased in 2024. Recent data indicate tuberculosis rates are accelerating in Houston,

Typhoid - Vivotif and Typbar TCV vaccines are available.
