Dr. Anthony Fauci, a member of the Coronavirus Task Force, confirmed on March 11, 2020, that the worst is “yet to come” for the USA, as the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus continues to spread. Dr. Fauci made the statement during a House Committee on Oversight and Reform telebriefing, when he was asked by Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, D-NY.

Dr. Fauci continued saying.... “although we are containing it in some respects, we keep getting (infected) people that are travel-related."

In order for the USA to mitigate this issue, Dr. Fauci said, we will need to contain “the influx of people who are infected coming from the outside” and “within our own country.”

In contrast to these comments, the WHO continues to recommend against implementing travel restrictions to reduce the spreading of this novel coronavirus. However, the WHO suggests increasing testing services at entry-points for most countries.

DARPA’s Pandemic Prevention Platform (P3) isn’t looking to create a vaccine, which can take years to produce. Rather, the goal is to identify the specific monoclonal antibodies that the body naturally produces when it encounters a virus and then trick the body into producing the one that guards against a specific illness. That could serve as a temporary, months-long shield, that can protect an individual from the pathogen.

The P3's principal benefit of the nucleic-acid-based approach to limiting the spread of infection is that genetic constructs introduced into the body would process quickly and not integrate into an individual’s genome. Similarly, the antibodies produced in response to treatment would only be present in the body for weeks to months.
